Manager - Environmental Assessment & Remediation 

Location: Hybrid/Remote

S2S Environmental Inc. (S2S) has an immediate opening for a Manager for the Environmental Assessment & Remediation Group at our Pickering office, with flexible hybrid or Canada-wide remote options.  The successful candidate will lead a multi-disciplined team of environmental professionals.

This individual will manage all technical & operational aspects of the Assessment & Remediation Group, which shall provide applicable Environmental services for private and public clients.  Furthermore, they will be responsible for the Company's national environmental assessment and remediation services and manage a professional team of 30+ staff.  The duties and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Provide technical leadership and co-develop the technical strategy with the Chief Operating Officer for developing and maintaining a technical roadmap that will continue to innovate from a technical standpoint;

  • Determine employment strategies of the Environmental Assessment & Remediation Group, including the hiring and termination of employees;

  • Generate marketing and business development on behalf of the Environmental Assessment & Remediation Group and the Company;

  • Ensure client satisfaction including maintaining good client relationships and client development;

  • Provide strategic planning and implementing strategy to grow the existing Environmental Assessment & Remediation Group in revenue and existing staff levels across Canada;

  • Conduct business development, marketing, lunch & learn sessions for promoting the Company’s services to both existing and potential Clients;

  • Take part in meetings on regular basis with the senior leadership of the Company to receive guidance and final determination as to the organization of the Environmental Assessment & Remediation Group and strategic decisions/direction;

  • Build and support an outstanding team of Environmental Professionals and deliver first class service to the Clients;

  • Provide environmental training and mentoring to staff at all levels and manage a team of technical, scientific and engineering staff across the Company’s various offices;

  • Carry out annual departmental and staff appraisals, writing plans and reports;

  • Keep up to date with changes in environmental legislation and initiatives;

  • Liaise with other Mangers and provide continued support across the Groups;

  • Prepare proposals, liaise with Clients and actively pursue business development;

  • Write technical reports and conduct site meetings with Clients as needed;

  • Oversee technical requirements for high quality of fieldwork and reporting for Phase I and II ESAs, Environmental Remediation, and Environmental Monitoring as well as RSC and related regulatory compliance requirements;

  • Write and review technical proposals and reports under strict deadlines; and

  • Prepare and review work plans specifications, proposals, budgets, and project schedules;

Qualifications

 

  • A Bachelor's or Master's in engineering, or other related disciplines along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience - ideally in the Canadian consulting environment;

  • Relevant experience in environmental site assessments (ESAs), and remediation projects;

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo);

  • Proven experience in writing successful proposals, work plans and conducting business development is mandatory; and

  • Experience working in a consulting environment at a project management level (at a minimum) or related management roles.
